A Screenwriters Blog

Welcome

"What makes a film great?" The answer is simple.

Great film like any other form of great art must

evoke an emotional response, good or bad.

It's got to move me, make me question why

this is so and what it says about me

as an individual.

I have called the blog "Celluoid Heroes".

Taken from a song by "The Kinks".

Director: Fred Schepisi

Writers: Fred Schepisi (screenplay), Thomas Keneally (novel

Stars: Tommy Lewis, Freddie Reynolds, Angela Punch McGregor

Long story short. My great aunt Madge worked in The Curragh cinema. I happened to be helping her the night this film played. I was nine years old. Good or bad this film left its mark. Ned Kelly me arse!

Director: Shane Meadows

Writers: Paddy Considine, Shane Meadows, Paul Frazer (additional material)

Stars: Paddy Considine, Gary Stretch, Toby Kebbel

This somehow slipped through my fingers when it was released, but I managed to see it sometime around 2010. Watching for the first time was a magical experience. For me its Shane Meadows best film and Considine's performance gives me chills.

Twenty years since it hit our screens. A masterpiece in five seasons. "I got the shotgun, you got the briefcase. It's all in the game" - Omar Little
